PlayBlue - Year 2024

My annual tradition of writing a blog post to review how our PlayBlue year went is one I look forward too. Maybe I’m getting older but it literally feels like last week since I wrote last years one. Working in PlayBlue ages you let me tell you it's just a blur of dildos and butt plugs.

It was a year of great highs and lows at PlayBlue. We were really sorry to say a goodbye to PlayBlue Cork but with the ever increasing march to online sales a store in Cork just was not viable anymore. But I miss my little trips down to pretend to work but really to sample some of the fab lunch spots in Cork.

We have introduced some incredible new brands to our selection like Pro Machines which became an instant smash hit for us. Within 2 months it has become our biggest selling product ever. 

In truth it was a year of consolidation and growth. The COVID madness is firmly in the rearview mirror and we just have to keep being as good as we can be. Just keep on doing the right things, Answer every support message, track every order, Source new products, fight for lower prices and keep doing it every day.

Tons of New Products and Brands - We did a few trade shows and loads of supplier visits to ensure we continue to stock the latest and greatest at the best prices. With new brands like Strap-on-me, Blowcast, Fifty Shades of Grey and tons more.

Over 1,200 PlayBlue Videos Live - We now have produced and published over 1,200 PlayBlue videos showing you an unbiased view of our products.

PlayBlue DeadlyDeals - Our biggest year yet with 59 Deadly Deals. Can we really offer more In 2025?

PlayBlue Charities - We still quietly donate €1 from every order to our partner charities who are incredible. We also supported tons of groups and societies and clubs throughout the country and look forward to more of the same.

The industry continues to innovate and the trends this year seem to be a bit of consolidation. A few big brands got snatched up by the big players and the sex toys are now being packed with loads of tech. I even see AI plastered on loads of toys now, but call me a little skeptical.

Male Masturbators continue to explode (metaphorically) and are now our biggest single category followed by Rabbit Vibes, Wands, Suction Stimulators and Realistic Dildos. The other big change is that the toys are getting more and more functions. The era of cheap, low quality “toys” are gone.

The move to online purchasing has only gathered pace and I can foresee a future when there are very few street stores. Only the best will survive and thrive.
