Lube It Up!

If you’ve been reading these blogs on the reg, you know that we are very pro lube. Call us whatever you want: connoisseurs, aficionados, fanatics…whatever. Any sex toy user worth their salt knows that a good lube can make all the difference to any kind of sexual interaction.

There can sometimes be a little bit of stigma around lube, especially for straight couples. In porn and erotica in general, the women are seemingly dripping wet with the minimum foreplay - which can leave you feeling a little bit lacking if your body doesn’t react in the same way. But everyone is different and needing a little bit of help in the lubrication department is completely and totally normal - especially if you’re sticking foreign objects inside yourself (which, built for purpose or not sex toys essentially are). Sometimes even if you’re super turned on the body doesn’t want to co-operate. It’s no. Big. Deal.

We know there are also some straight guys who might feel a little bit threatened by women using lube - as though it’s some sort of reflection on their sexual skills or indicator of something wrong with their partners vagina. It’s not at all. It’s just a product that helps to make sex more pleasurable for both partners. To put it this way: would you rather go down a dry or wet waterslide? There you go.

Whether you’re a hesitant lube newbie or a season veteran of the goo please read on - I guarantee we have something to satisfy your needs.

When it comes to purchasing lube, the most important thing to decide is whether you want to go Silicone or Water- based. Silicone- based lubes tend to be more long lasting and thick - so a little goes a long way. They also tend to be water-proof meaning you can use them in the shower, bath etc without them washing away. On the downside though, they can stain pretty easily and unfortunately are not suitable for use with latex condoms or silicone toys - which is a real pain. Water-based lubes won’t degrade condoms and don’t stain in the same way - but can be less thick and may require more application. Honestly, it all comes down to what’s important to you in your own sex life. When it comes to Silicone we can’t recommend this ID Millenium Lube enough, but in our mind the king of lubes will always be our own PlayBlue Premium Waterbased Lube. It’s pretty close to perfect.

If you’re a bit iffy about using more chemically based lubes, or if you are someone who can’t for skin reasons we still have some options for you. The Swiss Navy All-Natural Lube is a water-based lube made from natural ingredients. It’s condom safe and long lasting which makes it an A+ product in our book. We also have the Yes Natural Oil - Based Personal Lubricant - a completely organic lube that prides itself on being completely body safe and without any ‘disturbing taste, smell or colour’.

However, if you’re into the disturbing tastes, smells and colours - that’s okay too! We have a wide range of more niche lubes available. For example, if you’re looking for something in the flavour department our stock of Waterglide Flavoured Lubricants is definitely the way to go. They are good enough to eat (please don’t though) and completely vegan!

We also have a large number of sensation lubes - so if you’re into temperature play…or just want to try something new this will be right up your alley. If you want to heat things up there’s ID Sensations Warming Liquid, cool things off we have Aqua Slix Cooling Water- Based Lubricant or just get a little tingly, you can with ID Pleasure Lube. Gotta keep those bases covered!

So there you have it : enough lube options to be able to completely cover your body and slide yourself down the hall with (if you’re so inclined) …while still having tonnes left over for actual sex.
