Why is it so hard to create a blindfold that works?


I’m reviewing the Sei Mio - Eyes Wide Shut - Soft Velvet Blindfold, because the right blindfold allows you to surrender and be more in the present moment. Can thin blindfold provide this?

I know that not everybody feels the right tools that I’m. And this is ok. Unfortunately and fortunately I am a super sensitive person. And because of this blindfolds can add a lot to my experience even to my self-pleasure, if they are the right ones. But they rarely are.

I like Sei Mio and I especially love their velvety material. Their cuffs are so sensual and comfortable, that you want to feel them again. And the Sei Mio - Eyes Wide Shut - Soft Velvet Blindfold is made from this luxurious material. 

It looks elegant, and it is light. The front part is quite narrow and it is not as padded as I expected. There is a medium wide elastic to keep it at place and I find it comfortable, even though I have a bigger head. No Velcro or anything like that for more adjustability. Not that I would need it. I like the feeling of the blindfold on, I feel safe and grounded when it is on.

There are also 2 branded parts at the top to secure the elastic even more. There is a big label on the inner part sewn to the top which is super disturbing. Even if I cut it off, the top part will create some friction. I wish this would have been done differently.

I have a bigger nose and when I opened the package I was surprised how small the blindfold is, because on the product photos it looked so much bigger. It seems that most blindfolds follow the same sewing pattern, and this sewing pattern doesn’t fit me right. When I put the blindfold on, there is a gap next to the bridge of my nose. No matter how I try to adjust it right, I can’t secure a full coverage. I wish there would be some extra material to ensure a better coverage around the nose like some blindfolds have. And yes, I can and will close my eyes, so I will be in the dark, but still I would prefer a total blackout. Other than that the blindfold is not see-through at all. 

In general I find the Sei Mio - Eyes Wide Shut - Soft Velvet Blindfold to be a good one, but not as good as I hoped for. I think it probably depends on the structure of your face and your nose if it will cover everything properly. I also wish there wouldn’t be a huge label inside.
